About Jess B. Johnson

Jess Johnson has been practicing criminal defense and civil litigation for nearly 15 years. He represents clients in federal courts across the country and is licensed in Georgia, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Jess has represented elected officials, prominent businessmen, judges, government employees, whistleblowers, and everyday individuals in complex investigations, trials, and appeals. He has obtained dismissals, acquittals, and some of the lowest sentences possible in both federal and state court. He has also helped his clients obtain impressive whistleblower awards, including a $108 million award and the largest whistleblower award in the Southern District of Georgia.

Jess’s philosophy in practicing law focuses on three things: client attention, hard work, and results. He also understands that in today’s age it is critical to use cutting edge technology, respected experts, and hard-nosed investigators to fight back effectively against the government. In every case, he is dedicated to ensuring that no stone is left unturned.

For his achievements, Jess has been selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2012, which is an award given to less than 3% of all lawyers. Jess graduated first in his class from the University of Georgia in 2006 before graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2009. In law school, Jess was a member of the mock trial team and practiced in the school’s defense clinic during his third year. After law school, Jess partnered with renowned trial attorney Page Pate before founding Johnson / Citronberg with Cary Citronberg in 2023.
